Rachel Stewart has been practicing as a Physical Therapist since 2003. She completed her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at UAB. Soon thereafter, she became credentialed as a Casley-Smith Complex Lymphatic Therapist and served as the sole practicing lymphedema therapist in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for nearly 2 years.
A relocation to Birmingham, Alabama in 2007 prompted her transition to home care. After only 1 year of practicing as a clinician in this setting, Rachel was transitioned into a position of rehab leadership as a Rehab Specialty Director for Amedisys Home Health.
In this new role Rachel advanced not only her own skills in geriatric care, but was responsible for the clinical advancement of all the PT, OT and SLP staff in 2 care centers.
Over the next 5 years Rachel’s dedication to clinical excellence, quality care, and compliance standards were rewarded with the opportunity to lead the rehab teams of 14 care centers, and over 100 therapists, across the state of Alabama. One of her chief accomplishments in this role was the teaching and training of PT and OT staff in a comprehensive geriatric fall prevention program including components of vestibular rehabilitation for dizziness and vertigo. She often served as the clinical expert for her staff at these care centers. She also produced and taught clinical material for therapists on the clinical implications and management of heart failure.
Currently Rachel takes great pleasure in the opportunity to return once again to direct patient care. She is proud to offer not only exceptional clinical care for basic therapy needs, but is also able to offer her expertise in lymphedema, geriatric care; and, dizziness, vertigo, balance and fall prevention to all patients who have need of these skills. |
